So,
calming down…June had on offer a fantastic Saturday night
party at Marconi in Chelmsford
courtesy of Angelique Sinclair's Seraphim Dance Company.
We had two lessons – a bit of bachata, and a bit of Cuban
salsa, and two fantastic shows. I managed to have a little
chat with Angelique on your behalf, the results of which
you'll find at the bottom under Gossip from Backstage….
But,
its not just about the shows, it's also about the dancing
and the teaching and the socialising.
Don't
forget the two Friday night parties coming up in July– the
first at Marks Tey on Friday 6 th July, where Terry and
Yolande will be doing the teaching honours; and on Friday
13 th , Steve Eden from Kent's Salsa Sensation will be teaching
us some “moves” from over the bridge.
And
that's not all: The Big One! The next Saturday party night
at Marconi is on 21 st July and features Nico and Aneta's
New Show, and they'll be giving us a salsa lesson with an
r and b twist. Sounds good to me.
And
as for The Salsa Chillout Super-dooper offers – check out
the New Saver Pass – buy in advance and save at least 50%
on Monday to Thursday club entry.

But
what if you're running late and just can't get to the class,
but are in need of a good dance to de-stress . Well, then,
you can now get in any Monday
to Thursday club after 10 pm for a mere £3 if you
are a member, a still merely mere £3.50 if you're
not.
So,
come on, no excuse to sit at home and watch Big Brother
now….
Some
Gossip from Backstage
(actually,
it was gossip from the seats by the entrance, but it doesn't
scan so well)
Angelique
is no stranger to Essex , with appearances with Moe Flex
at Planet Salsa in March, another appearance with Moe for
a mammoth La Rueda lesson and show in Chelmsford in April,
and now, in her own right, returning to Chelmsford with
her Seraphim Dance Company.
So,
I said, Where did the African dance first make its appearance?
Angelique:
“We first performed it at the UK Congress in September of
last year. We came 3 rd in the European Championships there,
and were still rehearsing the show in the morning!! There
were two firsts tonight – Marianne performed for the first
time with Seraphim, and this was the show's first time in
Essex.
“The
Bachata show was performed for the first time at the Britfest
in Blackpool earlier in the year. We hadn't done a dress
rehearsal until the actual performance, and it was the first
time the guys had every performed with Seraphim.
“I
love teaching at different venues, and I'm really proud
to do it with the group especially now we've got very good
male dancers.”
And
what about the Marconi stage?
“The
stage is great. Its one of the best stages I've ever been
on – most are sloped, taped or wired!! It's nice, flat and
even. Perfect!”
So,
what next for Seraphim?
“We're
going to Scotland to teach and perform, and shortly aft
er
that we're doing a half hour show at RAF Brize Norton. It
uses some routines and a bit of narration – a little musical.
Its part of The Seven Deadly Sins, and myself and Seraphim
are Lust…..!
Say
no more….
