Funmi
Update
GAAP
got Funmi into hospital,
she has been diagnosed
with Cerebral Palsy
and a reduced brain.
She cannot be cured
but her doctor said
we can help by providing
care and nutritional
supplements. We are
exploring the provision
of a career/nurse for
Funmi and the other
children at the home.
GAAP
in Action
We
revisited Funmi's home
in July 2010, delivered
a large supply of Complan
for Funmi to build her
up plus Aqueous
and Canestan
creams for the other
children's dry skin
and fungal conditions.
We also delivered a
large quantity of Calpol
which is in short supply
at the home, plus clothing,
toys and educational
aids. We also met with
the Director, Permanent
Secretary and Commissioner
for Women's Affairs
and Social Welfare to
discuss our role in
Africa and we are delighted
to confirm we are officially
working in partnership
with Ogun State Government.
Bore
Hole Update
GAAP commissioned the
bore hole in June 2010.
Workers penetrated 5
core layers beneath
the home, eventually
reaching water at approximately
45 meters. A sample
has been sent to the
laboratory for purity
testing. Plumbing and
electrical work is underway
which will eventually
supply the orphanage
with running water for
the 1st time in its
history. In addition
GAAP installed two massive
water tanks capable
of storing 8,000 litres
of water. We have much
more work to do in Africa,
forthcoming projects
include providing a
school teacher at Funmi's
home and at a children's
remand centre.
